Maestro Aloke Dasgupta
Aloke Dasgupta founded the Raga Ranjani School of Music in 1986. He has been the sitar teacher ever since. He was a student of Late Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, the son and senior disciple of Late Ustad Baba Allaudin Khan. Mr. Dasgupta has performed extensively in India, Japan, the USA, and Europe, including his 1985 debut at Lincoln Center in New York. During the summer of 1985, his concerts in Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Tokyo were well-received. Mr. Dasgupta completed his Masters in Ethnomusicology at San Diego State University, where he taught sitar for several years. He has several audio CDs in his name and also duet with Shehnai and Violin with Late Pt. V.G. Jog.

Sanjukta Dasgupta has been the vocal teacher since 1986. She is the co-founder of the school. She began her studies in vocal music at the age of 4, under the guidance of her aunt. She went on to study with Late Shri Durgesh Mishra of Benares Gharana. Later, she studied with the renowned teachers Late Shri Sukhendu Goswami, Shri Amiyaranjan Banerjee, Late Pt. Chinmaya Lahiri and Late Smt. Namita Chatterjee. Ms. Dasgupta received her Masters in Khayal from Rabindra Bharati University, Calcutta India,

Debashish Dass
Debasish Dass an eminent Tabla player from India, born on May 1, 1964 in a musical family. He started his Tabla (pair of Indian drums) training at the tender age of 5 years under the tutelage of his father an eminent Tabla player/guru Late Pandit Dilip Kumar Das of Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, which was founded by Rabindranath Tagore. After the early demise of his father he became the disciple of another legendry musical virtuoso Late Pandit Jñan Prakash Ghosh and learned from him for 12 years. Mr. Dass also has a Master’s degree in Tabla from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India. Since very early age he started traveling all over the Europe and Brazil with his drums. He played in many world renowned music festivals in Europe as well as in India, such as Ganga Festival of Varanasi; Malhar Festival in Chennai, Delhi and Pune, India; La Borre Music Festival and Limouse Jazz Festival, Limouse; Paris Jazz Festival; Cann Film Festival, France just to name a few with world famous musicians and been highly appreciated by the audience as well as the fellow musicians of Europe. He has given many solo performances as well as accompanied many famous musicians of India such as Late Pt. Ravi Shankar, Late Pt. Nikhil Banerjee, Late Pt. D.T. Joshi, Late Pt. V.G. Jog, Pt. Viswa Mohan Bhatt, Ustad Rashid Khan, Late Smt. Kanika Bandyopadhyay, Late Smt. Suchitra Mitra, Late Sri Shanideb Ghosh and many others. He worked as a visiting professor at UFMG [University De Federal Minas Gerais], Brazil and as a Tabla teacher/ performer in Indian Cultural Centre [ICC] under Indian High Commission, Georgetown, Guyana.He has received Junior and Senior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, India. He is a grade artist in Indian Radio/Television. |
