Maestro Aloke Dasgupta

Aloke Dasgupta founded the Raga Ranjani School of Music in 1986. He has been the sitar teacher ever since. He was a student of Ali Akbar Khan, the son and senior disciple of Allaudin Khan. Mr. Dasgupta has performed extensively in India, the USA, and Europe, including his 1985 debut at Lincoln Center in New York. During the summer of 1985, his concerts in Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Tokyo were well-received. Mr. Dasgupta completed his M.A. in ethnomusicology at San Diego State University, where he taught sitar for several years. He has made at least four audio CDs with his wonderful classical music. Shrimati Sanjukta Dasgupta

Sanjukta Dasgupta has been the vocal teacher since 1986. She is the co-founder of the school. She began her studies in vocal music at the age of 4, under the guidance of her aunt. From that early beginning, she went on to study with Durgesh Mishra and later, the renown teachers Sukhendu Goswami, Amiyaranjan Banerjee, Chinmaya Lahiri and Smt Namita Chatterjee. Ms. Dasgupta received her M.A. in music from Rabindra Bharati University in Calcutta, where she specialized in classical vocal music.
